MCF3M – Sept 18, 2014

I began the class today by taking up any questions the students had from yesterday’s homework (Page 47 – 49 # 1 & 7).  After taking up the homework questions, I then moved on to an activity I had planned for the students.  I gave the students a worksheet titled “Properties of a Parabola” and then paired the students into groups.  I then assigned each group a question or two to work on from the sheet.  The students were to complete the chart on the “Properties of a Parabola” sheet (the ones they were assigned) and then had to graph the quadratic function in vertex form using the “Step Pattern” on the graph paper I provided for them (we learned “Step Pattern” in yesterday’s class).  Once each group finished, I then came over to take a picture of their work with the Ipad and then we took it up on the digital projector as a class.  After the activity, I then gave the students a worksheet titled “Graphing Using the Step Pattern Worksheet” to work on.  I then assigned some homework for the students to work on for the remainder of the period (page 68 & 69 #6 – 9).

Below you will find a copies of the handouts/worksheets that were distributed/assigned in today’s class.
