I WILL SHOW THE STUDENTS AT THE START OF TOMORROW’S CLASS HOW TO DOWNLOAD AND USE THIS VIRTUAL CALCULATOR.
I began the class today by giving the students a warm-up activity. I put questions up on the overhead projector and then called students up to board to put up their answers. I gave the students 6 graphs, and they had to find the domain, range and also find out whether or not if it was a function or not. The purpose of this activity was to find out if students understood the concepts they learned last week regarding functions.
After the activity, I then started the lesson for today. I gave each of the students a TI83 graphing calculator to use and then I did a lesson with them on the overhead projector on how to graph equations and also how to make a scatter plot. I first went over calculators with the students step by step and then after wrote the steps on the board so the students could use the calculators for their homework. The students are not aloud to take the calculators home, so I am putting a link here to an online graphing calculator so the students can finish today’s homework. I will also take up the homework in class tomorrow using the graphing calculators. Here is the link to the online graphing calculator (https://www.desmos.com/calculator). I then assigned the homework for the students to work on for the remainder of the period (page 64 & 65 #5, 6bef, 7, 8 & 10).
Below you will find a copies of the handouts/worksheets that were distributed/assigned in today’s class.
Sept – Lesson – 1.7 Domain & Range of a Function (continued) (Most of the lesson for today is the TI83 calculator steps)
