MFM1P – Jan 6, 2015

IMPORTANT: THE STUDENTS WILL BE WRITING THE EQAO GRADE 9 MATH ASSESSMENT ON JAN 14 AND JAN 15 (THERE ARE 2 DAYS OF THE ASSESSMENT).  STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE PRESENT ON BOTH DAYS.  I WILL BE COUNTING THE EQAO TEST AS THE CULMINATING ACTIVITY FOR THE COURSE WHICH IS 9% OF THE STUDENTS’ FINAL GRADE IN THE COURSE.

I began the class today by reviewing the lesson we did yesterday on the digital projector for those students that were away yesterday.  After going over yesterday’s lesson, I then took up any questions the students had from yesterday’s homework (this was from the worksheets titled “Graphing Lines in Slope-Intercept Form” and “Writing Linear Equations”).  After taking up the questions, I then told the students that we would be doing a new lesson today.  The title of today’s lesson was “Parallel Vs. Perpendicular Lines”.  I first went over a few definitions and then did a some examples.  After going over the examples I then gave the students the homework to work on which was a worksheet titled “Parallel and Perpendicular Lines Worksheet”.  I will take up any questions the students have from today’s homework at the start of tomorrow’s class.

Below you will find a copies of the handouts/worksheets that were distributed/assigned in today’s class.

Jan 5 – Lesson – The Slope Y-intercept Form of a Line (this was the lesson we did yesterday which I reviewed with the students on the digital projector at the start of class today)

Take-up of the homework from Jan 5 (#1, 2 & 6 from Graphing Lines in Slope-Intercept Form Worksheet & #1, 5, 7 & 8 from Writing Linear Equations)
