MFM1P – Jan 13, 2015 | Mr. Bawa's Semester 1 Classes at St. Mary's

IMPORTANT: THE STUDENTS WILL BE WRITING THE EQAO GRADE 9 MATH ASSESSMENT ON JAN 14 AND JAN 15 (THERE ARE 2 DAYS OF THE ASSESSMENT). STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE PRESENT ON BOTH DAYS. I WILL BE COUNTING THE EQAO TEST AS THE CULMINATING ACTIVITY FOR THE COURSE WHICH IS 9% OF THE STUDENTS’ FINAL GRADE IN THE COURSE.

I began the class today by taking up any questions the students had from yesterday’s homework which was the worksheet titled “One-Step Equations With Integers Worksheet” and “Two-Step Equations With Integers Worksheet”. After taking up the questions with the students, I reminded the students of their EQAO testing Jan 14 and Jan 15. The students will be given booklet 1 on Jan 14 and will have 60 minutes to write it. On Jan 15, the students will be given booklet 2 and will also be given 60 minutes to write it. The students will also be in a specific seating plan (I showed this to the students and have also posted a copy below) just for EQAO. After showing the students the seating plan, we then went over a few questions from the EQAO booklet titled “EQAO Grade 9 Applied Released Assessment Questions (2014)”. I went over some of the multiple choice questions and also the open response questions. I told the students that I would post practice assessments for 2010 to 2014 on this posting along with the answers to multiple choice and open response questions for all 5 of these packages. I then gave the students a printed copy of the 2012 package and told them to give themselves a time limit of 60 minutes (when they do their homework) to see how much they can get done. This will give good practice to help them prepare for the assessment. Please take a look below for copies of all 5 assessments and answers (2010 to 2014)

Seating Plan for EQAO Assessment (Jan 14 & 15):

There are a total of 5 EQAO practice assessments which I have posted below (from 2010 to 2014). With the practice assessments are the sample answers for both the open response questions and the multiple choice questions. I strongly recommend that the students go over some of the packages below to help them review for EQAO Jan 14 & 15.
