MCF3M – Nov 7, 2014

IMPORTANT:  THE STUDENTS WILL BE HAVING A MINI-TEST ON WED NOV 12 COVERING ALL OF THE MATERIAL FROM SECTIONS 4.2 AND 4.4.  I WILL REVIEW WITH THE STUDENTS SOME IMPORTANT CONCEPTS THEY NEED TO KNOW FOR THE MINI TEST ON MON NOV 10.

I began the class today by letting the students know that they would be having a mini test on sections 4.2 and 4.4 on Wed Nov 12.  I told them that we would review some of the important concepts next week before the test.  Once I finished talking to the students about the mini test, I then asked them if they had any questions to take up from yesterday’s homework.  After taking up the homework questions, I then told the students that we would be starting a new unit today.  The new unit is from Chapter 7 of the textbook titled “Exponential Functions”.  Before starting the new lesson, I told the students I wanted to do a mini-lesson to help them review some important concepts about fractions.  We then did a mini lesson titled “Fractions Review”.  After the mini lesson, we then did a new note titled “7.2 The Laws of Exponents”.  I went over some formulas and key concepts before giving the students some examples.  After going over the examples I then assigned the homework for the students to work on for the remainder of the period (Pages 399 & 400 #1 – 13).

Below you will find a copies of the handouts/worksheets that were distributed/assigned in today’s class.
