REMINDERS: PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS ARE OCT 23 SO PLEASE TRY TO BOOK A TIME WITH ME ASAP. PROGRESS REPORTS WERE GIVEN OUT ON FRI OCT 17. STUDENTS ARE TO RETURN THE BOTTOM PORTION OF THE PROGRESS REPORT ASAP (SIGNED BY PARENTS IF YOU ARE LESS THAN 18 YEARS OLD).
I began the class today by handing back the unit 2 test (chapter 2 of the textbook) that the students wrote a few weeks ago. I took up the answers to this test on the digital projector. I told the students that I would be posting these answers here so that they could go home and look over their test (see below for the test answers). After taking up the test, I then asked if there were any questions the students had from yesterday’s homework. There was only 1 question the students wanted me to take up so I took it up on the black board. I told the students though for this particular question, they would have to use a graphing calculator to solve it. I used the website http://www.desmos.com/calculator to show the students on the digital projector how to solve the question. After taking up the homework I then moved on to a new lesson which was titled “4.3 Solving Quadratic Equations using the Quadratic Formula”. I told the students that this topic was in another section (chapter 4) of the textbook but it is related to the current section (chapter 3) that we are working on. This is why I wanted to cover it today. I then went over the quadratic formula and the discriminant with the students before assigning the homework for the students to do for the remainder of the period (Page 222 #1 & 3).
Below you will find a copies of the handouts/worksheets that were distributed/assigned in today’s class.
50 Fun Facts About Apples & Nutritional Information (We did a school activity today during the announcements where each student had a choice to take an apple, which was provided by the breakfast club, and when they said so on the announcements everyone simultaneously took a bite of their apple. They called this the “Big Crunch”. I attached the sheet they gave our class with general info about apples)
MCF3M Simplifying Factoring Unit Test (Test #2) Answers (I took these up at the start of class today)
Take-up of the homework for Oct 22 (Page 163 #14)
Calculator example of Pages 163 #14 (This is an example I showed the students on the digital projector when we took up the homework today)
