MFM1P – Oct 21, 2014

REMINDERS:  PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS  ARE OCT 23 SO PLEASE TRY TO BOOK A TIME WITH ME ASAP.  PROGRESS REPORTS WERE GIVEN OUT ON FRI OCT 17.  STUDENTS ARE TO RETURN THE BOTTOM PORTION OF THE PROGRESS REPORT ASAP (SIGNED BY PARENTS IF YOU ARE LESS THAN 18 YEARS OLD).  

I began the class today by taking up any questions the students had from yesterday’s homework.  There were a few questions that students had emailed me about, so I took those up first on the digital projector.  I then took up any other questions the students had from the homework on the board.  After taking up the questions, I then moved on to the lesson today which was “1.8 Volume of a Sphere”.  I told the students that this was the last unit in chapter 1, so we would be starting review and I would let them know tomorrow when we would be having a test.   I first went over some key concepts before showing the students the formula for the volume of a sphere.  I then did some examples before assigning the homework for the students to work on for the remainder of the period (Pages 35 & 36 #1 – 5).  I also gave the students a few extra questions to work on form sections 1.6 & 1.7 which are word problems to do for homework as well tonight (Pages 27 & 28 #6 – 8 and Page 32 #6 & 7).
