REMINDERS: PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS ARE OCT 23 SO PLEASE TRY TO BOOK A TIME WITH ME ASAP. TODAY WAS OUR THANKSGIVING LITURGY SO THERE WAS A REVISED SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY. I POSTED THE SCHEDULE BELOW.
Thanksgiving Liturgy Revised Schedule for the Day
IMPORTANT: THE STUDENTS WILL BE HAVING A UNIT TEST TOMORROW ON BOTH THE HARDWARE AND NUMBER SYSTEM UNITS. I GAVE THE STUDENTS A PRACTICE TEST AND TOLD THEM WHICH PRESENTATIONS TO REVIEW FOR THE MULTIPLE CHOICE PART OF THE TEST (HARDWARE UNIT). I ALSO MENTIONED TO THE STUDENTS THAT I WOULD LET THEM USE THEIR NOTES FOR THE TEST TOMORROW, SO IT IS NOW AN OPEN BOOK TEST.
I wanted the students to review for their unit test so the work they were doing yesterday will have to be put on hold until Tue Oct 14. The grade 12’s (TEJ4M) will continue working on the Lego mindstorm robotics and the grade 11’s will continue working on their resistors assignment (see the Oct 8 blog posting for further details). I will extend the due date for the resistors assignment to Tue Oct 14 by the end of class).
I began the class today by reminding the students that they have a unit test tomorrow. The test will cover hardware, number systems and logic gates. For the hardware part of the test, I told the students it will be multiple choice (12 – 15 questions). These multiple choice questions will be based on the following presentations: “Computer Basics Overview”, “Computer Vocabulary”, “Input output lesson”, “Storage” & “What is Inside a Computer” (you can find these presentations below). Also, students should study the hardware diagram from the presentation titled “Hardware Basics” (see the presentation below). After showing the students the presentation, I then gave them a practice test to work on in class. I told the students that the test will be in a similar format to this practice test. I then told the students to help motivate those students that have been struggling with the material that I would allow them to use their notes for the test (the test is now open book). Students can email me if they have any questions. I will post the answers to the practice test below.
Below you will find a copies of the handouts/worksheets that were distributed/assigned in today’s class.
