Japan Day – Revised Schedule for the Day

IMPORTANT:  WE WILL BE HAVING OUR SECOND UNIT TEST ON FRI OCT 10 COVERING ALL OF THE MATERIAL FROM CHAPTER 2 OF THE TEXTBOOK.

I began the class today by taking up any questions the students had from Friday’s homework.  I took up 2 questions from the homework on the board.  Once I finished taking up the homework I then moved on to the lesson for today which was titled “2.5 Factoring Quadratic Expressions: Special Cases”.  I went over a few key properties in this lesson first (perfect numbers, perfect trinomials and a difference of squares) before going over the examples.  After going over the examples I then assigned the homework for the students to work on for the remainder of the period (Page 115 & 116 #2 – 9).  After the lesson, I gave the students a handout titled “Factoring Summary” which I had made for the students a few years back summarizing all of the factoring methods we have done in this chapter (section 2.2 to 2.5).  We are now finished all of the material from chapter 2 and will be starting review the unit starting tomorrow.

Below you will find a copies of the handouts/worksheets that were distributed/assigned in today’s class.
