MFM1P – Oct 3, 2014

IMPORTANT:  THE STUDENTS WILL BE HAVING A UNIT TEST ON TUE OCT 7 COVERING ALL OF THE MATERIAL FROM CHAPTER 4 OF THE TEXTBOOK (SECTIONS 4.1 TO 4.6). 

I began the class today by taking up any questions the students had from yesterday’s homework.  After taking up the questions from the homework I then told the students that there was one more example that I wanted to add to yesterday’s lesson which was titled “4.6 Percent as a Ratio (continued)”.  After doing the example, I then moved on to the next activity for today.  I gave the students a package titled “EQAO Practice Questions – Ratios & Proportions” which I had put together to help the students review some of the types of questions they might see on the EQAO test related to ratios and proportions.  This is also good review for the unit test coming up as well.  I then had the students work at their desks on the package while I went around the room helping students and checking their work.  I gave the students the remainder of the period to work on this package.  I told the students that I would post the answers to this package below but will also take them up at the start of class on Monday.  Before the students left for the day, I gave them some additional homework questions to do for the weekend which is a review of all of chapter 4 Ratios and Proportions (pages 140 & 141 #1 – 17).  This review is to help the students study for their unit test on Tuesday.  I will re-assign this homework on Monday as well but I strongly recommend that students start this homework this weekend to get a head start on their studying.
