MCF3M – Sept 30, 2014

REMINDER: WE HAVE AN ASSEMBLY TOMORROW AT THE END OF THE DAY.  THIS IS OUR GST (GOOD SAMARITAN TEAM) ASSEMBLY SO THERE IS A REVISED SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY AND CLASS ARE SHORTENED.  BELOW IS A COPY OF THE SCHEDULE.

GST (Good Samaritan Team) Revised Day Schedule

I began the class today letting the students know that wrote the test yesterday that I would be giving them an extra 15 minutes to write if they needed it (we had a fire drill at the end of class yesterday, so some students needed a little extra time).  Those students that did not need extra time, I wrote on the board for them to work on the homework I had assigned from the last 2 days (Page 74 to 76 #1 – 14 – this was homework on Fri Sept 25 & Mon Sept 29).

Once all of the students were finished, I then moved on to the lesson for today which was titled “2.1 Working with Quadratic Expressions”.  I first showed the students an applet on the digital projector teaching them how to use algebra tiles (there are a few questions from today’s homework that use algebra tiles).  Here is the link to the website that has the applet:

After going over an example with the students using the applet, I then moved on to a lesson on the board.  I did a few examples to  help the students with the homework and then gave them the remainder of the period to to work on it (Page 85 & 86 #1 – 10).  I told the students that I would do a homework check tomorrow because I have been noticing that there have been a number of students in class not doing homework daily.

Below you will find a copies of the handouts/worksheets that were distributed/assigned in today’s class.
