MCF3M – Sept 16, 2014

PLEASE NOTE:  WE HAD OUR OPENING MASS TODAY.  THIS MEANS WE HAD A REVISED SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY.  I HAVE ATTACHED A COPY OF THE SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY BELOW.

Welcome Mass Holy Family Church (Revised Schedule for the Day)

The class was shortened today so I told the students that I would start the lesson today and then would have continue it tomorrow if we ran out of time.  Also, I told the students that I would take up the worksheet I gave the them yesterday titled “1.4 Exploring Transformations of Quadratic Functions Worksheet” (I will post a copy of the worksheet answers below for those students to check their answers that have already finished).  I then began the lesson for today which was titled “1.5 Graphing Quadratic Functions by Using Transformations”.  I went over the parent function y = x^2 and then looked at the vertex form of a quadratic y = a(x-h)^2 + k.  We only had a chance to look at “h” and “k” and how they affect y = x^2.  I told the students that tomorrow we would look at “a” and would complete the lesson.  I told the students they had NO homework for tonight, except to finish yesterday’s worksheet if they hadn’t already.

Below you will find a copies of the handouts/worksheets that were distributed/assigned in today’s class.
