MCF3M – Sept 11, 2014

REMINDER:  THE STUDENTS WILL BE HAVING AN IN-CLASS OPEN BOOK ASSIGNMENT ON MON SEPT 15 RELATED TO ALL OF THE MATERIAL WE HAVE DONE IN CHAPTER 1 SO FAR.  I WILL DO REVIEW QUESTIONS WITH THE STUDENTS TOMORROW TO HELP THEM PREPARE.

I began the class today by giving the students back their marked diagnostic tests which they wrote Fri Sept 5.  I mentioned to the students that this mark would not be included in their course grade but that I would be using these diagnostic to help plan the course.  I also mentioned to the students that I did not have time in class to take up the solutions but would be posting them on the blog (please see the solutions attached below).  I then took up questions the students had from yesterday’s homework.  After taking up the homework, I then moved on to the lesson for today which was titled “1.3 Working with Function Notation”.  I went over some definitions to help the students recall the term functions notation which I covered last week, and then I assigned the homework for the students to work on for the remainder of the period (page 32 & 33 #1 – 8).  I will take up any questions the students have from the homework at the start of tomorrow’s class.  I told students that it would save time in class if they emailed me their questions the night before so that I can do the question ahead of time and can then take it up in class the next day (abawa@office.ldcsb.on.ca).

below you will find a copies of the handouts/worksheets that were distributed/assigned in today’s class.
